To enjoy a stay at Finch Hatton’s Camp in Kenya is to experience the wild elegance of an old-world African safari, a taste of Out of Africa’s glamorous colonial lifestyle. Herds of wildebeest thundering across the plains, cut crystal and fine china under the stars, Mozart floating out from the gramophone.
In fact, Finch Hatton’s is named for the real-life hero immortalised by Isak Dinesen’s novel and film, a British aristocrat who played an instrumental part in the founding of the Serengeti National Park. Set in Tsavo West National Park, the award-winning safari camp is the perfect base for game viewing excursions and luxurious relaxation, and a fitting tribute to a larger-than-life adventurer.
The camp offers unparalleled luxury right in the heart of the bush. Spacious safari tents complete with opulent furniture, free standing baths and period writing desks are built on raised platforms around a series of spring-fed natural pools, where hippos, crocs and terrapins can regularly be spotted.
Finch Hatton Lodge consists of 17 luxury tented guest suites. All the suites are designed with elevated decks which have an unobstructed view of the hippo pools which can also be viewed when one is in the room. The suites have indoor and outdoor showers, double washbasins, flush toilet and bath.
The family suites have 2 rooms, each with a communal lounge and are ideal for families or friends travelling together.
The presidential suite is spacious and has its own plunge pool, which has a heating option and includes a kitchen and a butler room. A private chef is also available for in-suite catering, at no additional cost.
Activities available at Finch Hatton include Game Drives, Night Drives, Guided bush walks and Cultural visits to the Masai Village.
